FREE MONTHLY EVENTS
Seattle Wushu Center offers free events each month, open to all students and to the public:
Free Monthly Qigong Practice:Held each 2nd Sunday morning of each month at 11 am, this gathering allows participants to experience the benefits of Qigong ("breathing skills" or "Energy Work"). By using controlled breathing techniques, soft movement, intention, and visualization, we allow our bodies to circulate "Qi" (life force), relax, and loosen up with gentle movements. The practice of Qigong is known to keep the body healthy, provide relaxing and meditative states, enhance concentration, and allow the body to enhance its own natural healing ability. No previous experience in Qigong is required....beginners always welcome! Open to all persons ages 7 and older. Persons will mobility issues are welcome, as we can modify all exercises to accommodate seated participants. All sessions are free of charge, however donations are gladly accepted for use of the space.

Learning the art of the Bullwhip- Free Study Group:
No previous experience required. An age old tool for stock handlers, the whip is also a wonderful tool for enhancing timing, body coordination, dexterity, rhythm, and precision....all which are elements for good martial arts. In fact, the whip has been a tool used for training in some styles of Filipino Martial Arts and Shaolin Kung Fu. You don't have to be a martial artist to learn the whip, but it is a great tool to enhance your skills! Sifu Restita will coach participants through safety precautions, basic history of whip use and its evolution into "whip artistry", and 5 basic cracks. As participants gain skill, she will share more intricate tricks, how to string together short sequences of multiple cracks ("flashes"), how to follow angles and change angles smoothly, how to use footwork, targeting, etc.
This group will meet on the 3rd sunday of each month unless otherwise notified. Interested individuals can email Sifu Restita to reserve a spot in the group. Due to space constraints, we are limited to 12 people maximum. Sifu will have some low quality whips to start beginners with, but all participants will be responsible for eventually obtaining their own personal whip. We have 3 spots left in the group....reserve your spot now before they're gone!
As interest in this class grows, another class might be formed to meet the demand.
Northwest Sport Blowgun Enthusiasts Club:
Sifu DeJesus's avid interests include sport blowgun targeting. This club is open to anyone in the greater Northwest area who likes blowguns and/or participates in blowgun targeting or hunting. No experience necessary to learn to shoot. We hold informal shooting practice sessions at our studio and also host club competitions (sanctioned by the United States Blowgun Association, following USBA competition regulations). The great thing is, if you find it difficult to travel to Seattle, you can still participate in competitions as a "stranded shooter". There are even online "living room" (non-USBA sanctioned) competitions that connect shooters from all over the world!
We have several "house blowguns" for beginners to learn with. However, if you start to get serious about sport blowgunning, you will be required to purchase your own blowgun and accessories.
