Patrick Anthony
Student Assistant: Wushu
Seattle Wushu Center

In Patrick's own words....
I began learning wushu back in 2007 at Madison middle School’s
"Martial Arts" after school program, at that time I had been studying the
Kajukenbo style of martial arts with Sifu DeJesus for about a year. After our
program started to study wushu I began learning the fundamentals and basics, I
feel in love with Wushu and stayed in the program until the end of the
year.
In August of 2008 I began training at the Seattle Wushu Center
under Sifu DeJesus, the training was challenging but over time I became stronger
and healthier and I developed a passion and drive to learn Wushu and one day
master it. It was here that I was introduced to the weapons and jump basics of
Wushu.
Today I train Wushu everyday of the week under Sifu DeJesus and
Sifu Li, I have found that I have a deep passion for the "Soft Weapons" of
Wushu. I work as hard as I can to better myself both mentally and physically
everyday. I have benefited a lot from the training and I will continue my
training in the hope of one day mastering Wushu.
I attempt to help everyone one I can to succeed in wushu and
develop a love for wushu as I have developed, I will break down the movement and
help them for as long as it takes for them to understand it.
Wushu changed my life in many ways by increasing my health,
flexibility, and academically by giving me the discipline to work hard in school
and always show respect to my teachers and fellow classmates. I currently assist Sifu DeJesus with afterschool Wushu classes at Madison Middle School in Seattle.
